When I was in Toronto I got to witness first hand the effects of pH balancing
I used to provide Nutrition consultation and Live Cell Microscopy (which is looking at a finger prick of blood under the microscope) while I was living in Toronto, Canada.
I was working in a chronic illness and cancer clinic with the most amazing chiropractor and naturopathic doctor (who has since passed away at the age of 87 years; may he rest in peace) who was reversing people of their cancer symptoms and other chronic illness symptoms including IBD, brain tumors and MS.
As our client's body went back into an alkaline state, their symptoms seemed to disappear and left doctors baffled when the patient went in for a follow up routine examinations and imaging tests.
There would be either be a massive shrinkage or no evidence of the cancer. And, the same was happening with MS and problems with Crohn's disease.
"No evidence of Crohn's disease, Colitis, polyps, inflammation or cancer."
Even though I was a holistic nutritionist well trained in Toronto, I still did not have the faith to believe. It was through working with this doctor that I really understood what I had learned in school. It also gave me the faith to know I too could leave the doctors scratching their heads in disbelief and I did just that when I got my final diagnosis of "No evidence of Crohn's disease, Colitis, polyps, inflammation or cancer."
Don't get me wrong, I still had a long road of recovery, but at least at that point in my healing journey I felt like I had a fighting chance!

Let's talk about pH balancing
Basically we have a scale from 0-14; negative side is 0-6 is your acidic side and about 7-14 is your alkaline side. You want to try and maintain about a 7.0-7.4. If you are in an alkaline state disease can not manifest and grow.
All of the nutrients you take in are broken down and used; these are your vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids, antioxidants and so on. If you are in an alkaline state your pH balance will be off and your nutrients may not be absorbed. Why? Because we need to in a balanced state. If we become too alkaline it is just as bad as being too acidic.
The nutrients you get from food are needed to rebuild and rejuvenate your cells. So, you have to look at the types of foods you are eating. Are the nutrient dense? If your pH is more on the acidic side and you are eating foods that are not supporting your cells it may make you feel more symptoms of sickness and keep you in a sick state.
How do you work on pH balance and crohn's disease?
Eat foods full of vitamins and minerals. These come from your vegetables
I know you are probably thinking "duh I have Crohn's disease, I can't eat vegetables."
- Start slow with really mushy overcooked veggies. You will still get the nutrients and it will be easier for your body to digest.
- Try juicing a 1/2 a lemon and add it to warm water. This will help your digestion and liver.
- You can also try juicing your green veggies. You will get the much needed minerals and essential fatty acids in a medium that does not require much digestion.
- Chlorophyl drops in water also can help.
