How Well Do You Know The Drugs Used to Treat Crohn's Disease and The Possible Nutrient Deficiencies?


Medications to treat Crohn's Disease May need to include supplements

If you have Crohn's disease I bet you have been on some form of medication to control it right? 
Symptoms of Crohn's disease and medications to treat Crohn's
may come with questionable come with symptoms however, they may not be related at all! In fact they may be related to nutrient deficiencies. 
How well do you know the drugs used to treat Crohn's?
​Do you take the time to research your Crohn's medication and the possible nutrient depletion that may happen with long term use? 
Let's use Prednisone as our example. 
Prednisone when used for Crohn's disease long term may deplete or increase the need of nutrients such as 
  • Folic acid (energy, DNA, red blood cell production) 
  • Potassium (think leg cramps)
  • Selenium (thyroid, DNA)
  • Vitamin D (immunity, disease prevention)
  • Vitamin C (immunity and energy)
  • Zinc (immunity, skin, energy, white blood cells)

If supplements for Crohn's disease are such a big deal then why isn't my doctor not telling me this?
